At Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. (RCC), we know that the fight against cancer, battling fear, doubt and pain, can be the hardest thing you've ever faced. RCC is a organization founded by a cancer patient, with a leadership team made up of people who have been closely affected by cancer. We know and understand that every patient, at times have some difficult questions. “Did God give me cancer?” “Does God want me to be sick?” “How can I possibly be healed?” “Can I have Joy and cancer at the same time?”
Our founder, Tamela Reed, asked all of these same questions. She found the answers in the Bible. God has provided us with verse after verse about His healing power, His endless love for us and the answers to what he thinks about our current situation. The Recipes for Healing are the note cards on which Tamela wrote these verses, along with commentary relevant to cancer patients and those who care for them. She read them to herself again and again, day and night. When she received her cancer diagnosis, she had just signed a lease on commercial kitchen for her soul food catering business, was the mother of a 5 year old and a new mom to a 6 month old baby. Instead of giving in to depression and bitterness, Tamela accepted a new path. She approached her healing the same way that she approached studying for her 2 Masters Degree, she gathered the ingredients (Scriptures from God’s Word) and studied them on note cards.
The Recipes for Healing are a result of that effort – a large measure of hope, a cup of faith, the proper tools to remove fear and anger, and a generous quantity of healing!

ROCK CANCER C.A.R.E.

volunteers

We exists to provide compassionate, spiritual, and emotional support, while connecting cancer patients, caregivers and survivors to available resources to help them cope with the effects of cancer. “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)

We help cancer patients and caregivers cope with the devastating effects that a cancer diagnosis can cause to one’s life, while also helping those affected not to fear cancer.

Based on current statistics, more than 2 out of 5 Californians will develop cancer at sometime in their lives, and about 1 in 310 children will be diagnosed with cancer before age 20.

If you have the gifts of being a server or exhorter, and have a heart of compassion toward others who are suffering mentally and physically from cancer, we welcome you to join our volunteers.  You will have the opportunity to provide encouragement, education, resources, prayer, and hope in the sovereign plan of God.

We recently rescued a cat, her name is Ninja, this will make a total of 5 (count 'em) 5 Female life-forms to my single Male presense in the house.

Anyhoo.. the reason for the post is this photo, which i think sums up the relationship between my youngest daughter and the cat.

Thanks Ryan for passing this along. i how this blesses all of you who read this.

Please share this letter with the saints of the Rock Cancer Care Ministry.
In February 2010, just 5 months ago, I was diagnosed with 4th stage ovarian cancer, lymphoma and peritoneal (abdominal) cancer. The doctors said they didn't really know the origin of the cancer, that it was complicated and inoperable, and it had spread to at least these three areas. I was treated as if I were terminal with little or no hope that I would survive for long. I immediately told the doctors that I was free of cancer and had many people praying for me. Surprised, but loathe to argue with me ,the doctor said " Well, if you say so then maybe that's what it'll be."
Jesus said pray as if you have already received it. I give thanks every day to be cancer free, and of all and any other diseases - free. I give thanks for other blessings, conditions and situations to be corrected as well. Spiritually, mentally emotionally and financially - all corrected.
I withered away almost immediately after the first hospital stay which was the week of February 2nd. Kidney failure, extreme nausea from the large mass that had sprung up over the last few months in my lower abdomen, pain and digestive problems caused me to lose about 20 lbs of muscle and fat from a 117 lb frame. The cancerous mass caused both legs to swell and I appeared to weigh about 250 lbs below the waist but be totally emaciated in my upper body. I was starving, weak and suffering. Chemotherapy was not started until the last week of March - a six week wait while the doctors evaluated my case, dealt with the emerging complications in four more hospital stays and worked on a plan of action, Friends prayed, tried to comfort me and sent me holistic remedies as they looked on in shock and horror. You see, I had always been a healthy eater. I should look like broccoli, green leafy veggies, brown rice, lentils and other beans, celery, onions, steamed fish and garlic I had eaten so much of it over the years. I exercised diligently. As I matured, I prayed and lived increasingly by faith.
Once in February and then in March fluid had to be drained from my abdomen in the amount of 10 lbs each time. After starting the holistic remedy of shark cartilage in mid March, even in a small dose as I could barely get even a capsule down, I saw the fluid ceasing to build up in my abdomen. One step toward relief.
The volunteers of the ministry ferried me to all my appointments, visited me in the hospital, came to the house bringing me meals, laid hands on me praising God in prayer, song and supplication. And continue to do so to this day.
Around mid May I started feeling and showing marked improvement. Most of the swelling has gone from my lower body, my digestive system is working much better, the nausea is reduced to little or none, the pain is reduced to nearly none, I have gained weight and am a lot stronger.  I was told on July 12 at my regularly scheduled Prue-chemo appointment with my oncologist, Dr. McHale, that he would proceed with the 5th round on July 16th but the ct scan of July 9th and the physical exam revealed 1) the tumor had disappeared on the right side and shrunk on the left side, 2) the lymph nodes throughout my body were back to normal  3) no fluid was accumulated in my abdomen, he said the cancer was gone from my upper body,  4) he was cancelling the 6th round of chemo scheduled for August 6th ( I had already signed up for the Women's Retreat, Aug 6 - 8, the Lord told me to go and made a way) and instead he would operate in August.
Dr. McHale said I have made an 180 degree turn. He said he never believed we would be having this talk. We high fived! Miracles!
Several of you are constant helpers to me and have become friends. You have witnessed my transformation up close. Others, maybe I've met only once or so. But, each and every one of you is a blessing to me and all the others you have lovingly given your time, prayers and attention to. I cannot emphasize enough how much you are all needed and appreciated. I praise God for each and every one of you. Especially thanking those who cried with and for me, prayed, been there ( an 8 hour wait in the hospital emergency room til 3am plus countless other blessings, Ryan, thank you) and blessed me back to life. I take none of these seconds, minutes, hours or days for granted. I still need you very much but am happy to report things are much better. I pray for all of you as well for we each have burdens that we bear.
May I honor each of you by continuing to fight on, by trusting and obeying God in every way (help me, Jesus) I praise God to stay in a place of complete surrender and gratitude and to live lovingly. Thank you, thank you, thank you ....... endlessly and from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!
Signed,
K.L.O.
